An exhibition in Hamburg: modern art and Longobard history
Modern art and ancient Longobard history: these are the elements that inspired the German artist Gaetano Gross in the creation of works inspired by the long migration carried out by the Longobard people over almost two millennia of European history: from the mythical Scandinavian origins to the first archaeological settlements found in Northern Germany and dated II-I century BC, up to 1076 AD year of the fall of the city of Salerno in the hands of the Normans, event that marks the end of the Longobard dominion in Southern Italy. The Gross exhibition - entitled "Migration and evolution of the Longobards" - will open on June 8th in the halls of the Archaeological Museum of Hamburg and will run until September 2nd. The inauguration will be preceded by the presentation by prof. Reiner-Maria Weiss, director of the Archaeological Museum of Hamburg and an intervention by the honorary President of the Longobardia Association, Heidi Jung.
