Tower of via Lambro

The Gate Tower of via Lambro dates back to the 13th century. Its construction is attributed to the Pessina, a family of merchants dedicated to the art of wool and dying. This is the historic origin of the building, which is also improperly called "Tower of Theodelinda". Towards the end of the 19th century it was deeply reworked and today it is still used as a private house.

The Tower develops on three storeys, has a square plan and a barrel vault on the ground floor that passes over via Lambro.

The 14th-century "signs" are well visible: on the first floor the double-lancet windows, similar to those of the Arengario; on the second floor the pointed-arch single-lancet windows; on the third floor the triple-lancet windows with small columns on whose walls are two medallions representing the medieval coat of arms of Monza. On the top are the Guelph battlements.
