The Royal Station in the Park

In 1884 a small station was built along the railway between Milan and Como near the entrance drive to the Royal Park of Monza. It had a luxury waiting room and was exclusively reserved for the Royal Family of the Savoy and their guests for their trips to the Reggia.

King Umberto I and Queen Margherita of Savoy used it during their summer stays in the Reggia from 1884 onwards, the year of its construction. It was from here that in 1900 the King's bier was carried after the attack in which he was killed.

The waiting room is decorated with stuccos, boiseries and paintings. On the vault is the tempera painting of the coat of arms “Genius of the Savoy" by Mosè Bianchi. A copy of the painting is kept in the Royal Room of the central station of Monza
